Completed Digital Media Checklist

Reflection

During the creation of the digital media checklist for evaluating OERs, I learned the importance of systematically assessing key aspects of open resources to ensure they align with instructional goals. The checklist focused on content quality, clarity, accessibility, adaptability, engagement, licensing, and cultural relevance. One critical lesson was understanding how to assess both the strengths and potential limitations of resources, such as the lack of interactive elements and minor accessibility issues within the PDF format. By using this tool, I was able to clearly identify areas where the OER excelled, particularly in content relevancy and licensing, while noting aspects like limited engagement that may require adaptation. This reflective process highlighted how crucial it is to balance academic rigor with accessibility and engagement when selecting OERs for course integration.
