Reflection
The YouTube video from Belvista Studios, part of the course materials, walked through the fundamentals of structuring a storyboard, and I quickly thought of Excel’s potential for streamlining my workflow. To enhance the template, I drew inspiration from Thinkific examples and integrated Bloom's Taxonomy and Gagne's 9 Events of Instruction into the design. These frameworks helped keep my instructional approach organized and intentional, ensuring the storyboard aligned with learning objectives and learner engagement strategies. Once I determined the essential elements to include, the process flowed smoothly.
Excel’s workbook format was particularly advantageous, allowing me to create separate tabs for each module or lesson and easily navigate between them when making updates. Compared to my previous experience using PowerPoint for storyboarding, Excel’s flexibility and organization made it a game-changer. I’m confident it will become my go-to tool for future projects.
Looking ahead, I’m curious to explore alternative tools like Miro for creating storyboards. Its collaborative and visual features might offer additional benefits, especially for brainstorming or working with teams. While Excel worked exceptionally well for this project, experimenting with other platforms could help refine my process even further.
This experience has underscored the importance of using the right tools and frameworks to design effective and cohesive learning experiences. Transitioning to Excel has improved my efficiency, but I’m excited about continuing to explore innovative approaches to instructional design.
