This lesson explored digital media, new tools, and technologies that enhance the learning experience and engagement of students. In addition, we learned about creating a digital media checklist for evaluating open educational resources.
Week two provided a more in-depth exploration of digital text and audio. Using these two elements in instructional design further elevates the user experience. In addition, the importance of universal design for the learner (UDL), the evolution of the web, and best practices for audio for eLearning were discussed.

This week we explored the power of screencasts and animations and how they can be used to enhance learning experiences. Screencasts provide step-by-step guidance for technical tasks and enable self-paced learning. Animation videos can be used to creatively simplify complex concepts and engage learners with visually rich, memorable storytelling.

Over the past five weeks, we explored digital media tools and refined our skills using them. This week we learned how instructional designers bring it all together—through storyboards. These essential tools help us sketch out and organize ideas for videos, animations, and e-learning content. Storyboards provide a clear, visual plan, ensuring our designs are engaging, effective, and aligned with learning objectives.
WEEK 7 | Authoring Tools for Interactive Learning:

This week we explored the power of authoring tools in instructional design. These platforms enable us to create interactive, engaging e-learning content—no programming skills required. With features like drag-and-drop functionality and customizable templates, authoring tools make it easy to design multimedia lessons, videos, and animations.

Week 8 was a discovery into how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming instructional design. We learned how AI can personalize learning, streamline content creation, and enhance engagement through tools like adaptive quizzes, tailored resources, and interactive simulations. Learners were able to reflect on our minicourse’s design and explore how AI can help refine and innovate the approach.
